Read Recorded Activity
The Read Recorded Activity option in the Monitor menu allows you to download the data from your StepWatch. Simply place your StepWatch face down into the depression on the dock. Select "Read Recorded Activity" from the Monitor menu. Do NOT remove the monitor from the dock while it is communicating and the red light is illuminated.
Prior to Reading a monitor, be sure the Preferences are set as you wish. We recommend maintaining consistent activity level settings for all your data files. The defaults are advisable for most applications.
Caution:
If you accidentally select "Start Recording Activity... when you mean to Read Recorded Activity, allow the communications to continue until the Start StepWatch screen appears, then click cancel.
If you are not able to read your StepWatch:
- Check the connections between the dock and the computer.
- Make sure the StepWatch is properly placed with the red side facing down in the dock.
- Infra-red light from some Motion Analysis Systems may require sheilding.
- Verify that your Communications Preferences have the correct port specified.
- Verify that the computer can communicate with the dock and the StepWatch (using the Communications Test in the Utilities portion of the Monitor menu).
- Check that you do not have e-mail or Internet browser software running in the background. Intensive networking software can also cause errors.
- Sometimes simply waiting for a while before attempting to read the StepWatch again solves the problem.
You may wish to back-up your data by exporting the file. If you have concerns about your data after downloading it, do a "Save Raw File" under Monitor Utilities PRIOR to reprogramming the monitor. Contact Cyma technical support for assistance with this file. There are also options for moving the time of the data using "Shift Time" in the monitor utilities.
Caution:
If you have programmed a StepWatch to start recording but it has NOT yet started recording, do not try to Read Recorded Activity or Read Current Settings. If you do, you will need to program the monitor again.
